Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the biologically active N-terminal fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone, GHRH(1-29), with a C-terminal amide. It binds and activates GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotrophs, stimulating endogenous growth hormone release in a pulsatile pattern. Its serum half-life is approximately 11-12 minutes, reflecting rapid cleavage by dipeptidyl peptidase-4.
